HR: Exit Interviews

The average response rate for exit interviews is approximately 35%. HR departments can improve exit interview participation rates by providing simplified questionnaires with a reasonable number of questions; letting the employee know their feedback is valuable and will be promptly reviewed; letting the employee know their honest feedback will not result in repercussions; and auditing the events that occur from the time an employee gives notice to when the employee submits the exit interview.
